Follow Up E-mail

Thank you for the overwhelming response to Project E-Teach. Let me update you on current happenings.

You may want to print this e-mail for future reference. If you know of a Project E-Teach educator on your campus that did not receive this e-mail, please have them contact us.

Pre-assessments should be completed today (October 27, 2000). If you've been having difficulty when you click on the submit button, this is due to the high volume of traffic during the last few days. If you receive this error today while you are taking your pre-assessment, please try again at a later time. If you do not finish your pre-assessments by today, please go ahead and try to finish them no later than Tuesday, October 31, 2000. This will give those folks who have received error messages more time to complete the pre-assessments.

I just want to share a few thoughts on the pre-assessments.

The first 2 pre-assessments collected data on an educators "perception" of technology on their campus/district. There are no right or wrong answers on this survey and it is not to judge any person, campus or district.

The pre-assessments will be measured against a post assessment to judge how well we did in meeting our goals of the grant. It will not be used to judge individual schools, campuses or individuals.

The 3rd pre-assessment (SRC*TEC profiler) keeps the information via individual educator. This is where you should really give honest answers about your technology skills. This information will be used to determine which baseline course should be taken (if any are needed) by the individual participants.

Training
Training calendars will be released SOON! We have contracted with exceptional trainers and they are excited to begin training. As you can imagine, with a project of this scope, securing lab space etc. is quite time consuming. You will receive e-mail with the training calendars within the next few days.

On-Line training course
We are hoping to have your logins and passwords for the online training courses within the next week. You will receive e-mail with your login and password.

Free at-home Internet Access
We will receive e-mail shortly concerning the steps to register for the at-home Internet access.

Each campus will receive:
--Electronic Portfolio Kit- consisting of a digital camera, scanner, and CD-ROM Burner
--Subscriptions to electronic journals/printed magazines
--Just-in time training CD/Videos/Books
--Funds for participating in on-line projects

These items will be arriving on your campus soon.

The Texas Computer Educator Association (TCEA) hosts the state technology conference in Austin in February each year. Participating teachers will be eligible to apply for a scholarship to attend the conference for a day. The scholarship will cover conference registration and a substitute.
