Training for baseline technology skills (if/as needed)
Access to an educational interactive web portal
Free/reduced at home Internet access
Access to electronic portfolio kit materials
Access to over 60 online integration courses
Onsite mentoring/coaching
Access to technology help desk
Scholarships to TCEA
Much, much more........
Pre-Assessment
The first step to begin this project is to complete the on-line pre-assessment. This pre-assessment is to evaluate your current technology skills. This assessment is not to judge or criticize, but rather to see where you stand and what your next course of training should entail. Each assessment will take approximately 20 minutes.
To begin the pre-assessment go to the E-Teach website
http://www.tcet.unt.edu/eval/esc13.htm
Here you will see a link that says, "E-Teach Participating Teachers click here to begin the on-line pre-assessment". This link will take you to our evaluator's web page where 3 pre-assessments exist. Each pre-assessment must be completed. They may be completed at the same time or at various times. The 3 pre-assessments are listed below:
STaR Chart Self-Diagnostic Tool-Digital Content
--Choose ESC 13 in the project box
Learning With Technology Profile Tool
--Choose ESC 13 in the project box.
SCR*TEC Profiler Technology Applications Skills
--Click on Create new account
--Enter texas13 as your district id in the register yourself area
It is imperative that participants choose the correct project code for the StaR Chart and the Learning With Technology Profile Tool and use texas13 as the registration code for the SCR*TEC Profiler Technology Applications Skills. This will keep all the project data together. It is recommended that you print the results of your assessment for your personal records. Pre-assessments should be completed no later than Friday, October 27, 2000.
Interactive Education Web Portal
During the next several weeks, the E-Teach web site will be undergoing major redesign and redevelopment. Links to quality educational resources, a secure area that supports interactive chat and threaded discussions will be added. Materials to support the project will be posted on the site for access by any project participant.
On-line Integration Courses
Connected University will provide the online integration courses. Courses that cover a variety of topics will be offered. Simply choose your topic of interest. Logins, passwords and instructions for accessing courses will be available shortly.
5 days of Technology Integration training
All participants of this program will attend 5 days of technology integration training. This training will be held in multiple locations, at a variety of times and dates. Several opportunities both on contract and off contract time will be available. Simply choose the one that suits you and your campus administrator. Calendars for the various training dates, topics, and locations will be posted on the interactive web portal at http://www.esc13.net/tie.
Campus Materials
Each campus will be receiving an electronic portfolio kit (scanner, digital camera, CD-ROM burner), books, cd's and videos for "just in time" training, and subscriptions to electronic and print magazines. These materials will begin arriving at the campus within the next few weeks.
Scholarship to attend TCEA
The Texas Computer Educator Association (TCEA) hosts the state technology conference in Austin in February each year. Participating teachers will be eligible to apply for a scholarship to attend the conference for a day. The scholarship will cover conference registration and a substitute.
