Teaching with Digital Cameras
September 19, 2001-9:00-5:00
Digital cameras are immediate, personal, creative and almost magical. They have the power to transform your students and your classroom quickly, easily, and dramatically. Imagine one of your students living in a marsh like a hermit crab or working as a blacksmith in the 1800's! Is there someone who should have been an ancient pharaoh?

This workshop will introduce you to the exciting possibilities of teaching with digital cameras! You will learn how to take pictures, and move them to the computer, but more importantly, you will learn how to use the images for a variety of exciting classroom projects. You will work with ImageBlender software to edit the photos and create a variety of products. Available resources and digital imaging applications in the classroom will be discussed and you will leave with ideas for immediate integration. Bring a digital camera if you have one ImageBlender software will be provided.

Creating Clay Animation in the Classroom
September 20, 2001--9:00-5:00
Here's your chance for an exciting introduction to the world of clay animation and to begin learning the techniques and exploring the potential of clay animation in the classroom. Participants will become familiar with the basic techniques involved in clay animation, learning to build characters, take and import pictures, and combine stills into animation. They will leave with skills and ideas for implementing this exciting technology in the classroom.

During this session participants will gain experience with the basics of clay animation, including how to: build armatures to enhance movement, create basic characters, work with different imaging options for capturing animation or movie frames, use individual images of clay characters to build animations, movies, and VR Objects in Spin PhotoObject, integrate animations into web pages and multimedia projects, and modify the techniques to fit your classroom. Participants will also explore available resources and discuss a variety of clay animation applications in the classroom. Bring a digital camera if you have one Spin PhotoObject software will be provided.
