Art Safari: A tour of the Museum of Modern Art fashioned just for kids that encourages learning about art by looking and sharing interpretations. (3-6)
National Gallery of Art - NGAkids: This site takes children through a series of paintings explaining the general composition and themes as well as telling a story and even animating the painting. It is a good introduction for art classes, especially for slightly older children. (3-6)
The @rt Room - The @rt Room is designed around the idea of "activity" centers that encourage kids to create, to learn, and to explore new ideas, places and things on their own. (3-9)
ArtMagick: An online gallery of paintings and poetry from the 19th and 20th centuries, with an emphasis on artists "who have been forgotten or neglected in recent years." (6-8+)
Mark Harden's Artchive: A very large site with an alphabetical list of artists in the left frame and a nice breakdown of art movements in the right frame. (2-12)
AICT: This is an elegantly-presented collection of royalty-free art images which are copyright-free when used for instructional purposes. The site is broadly divided into time periods, and there are thumbnails for each image. Great resource for art history or lessons on comparative art styles. (K-12)

3-D Drawing Lessons: PBS's Mark Kistler offers these 3-D drawing lessons online. His cartoon-type style appeals to children and instructions are fairly easy to follow. (3-6)
