Ask Jeeves for Schools: Ask Jeeves has two search engines for teachers to use. AJ Kids is a kid friendly question and answer service designed for use in the classroom. Ask Jeeves is the "grown-up" Q&A service that answers questions AJKids cannot.
EduHound.com: A highly specialized educational directory with built-in resource links for educators, students and parents. EduHound.com seeks to harness the vast information resources of the Web, while enabling educators to use the Internet as a classroom tool.
Google: Returns important, relevant hits quickly with bold terms.
Ixquick Metasearch: Metasearches the biggest engines using your refined search (can use phrase, boolean logic, wildcards) and returns results ranked in their top ten.
Lii - Basic Search Advice: The Librarians' Index to the Internet is a searchable, annotated subject directory of more than 7,100 Internet resources selected and evaluated by librarians for their usefulness. Student Friendly Search Engines
Ask Jeeves for Kids: AJ Kids is a kid friendly question and answer service designed for use in the classroom. Students can ask a question in plain English and AJ Kids takes them to one web site that answers their question.
Yahooligans: A search engine for kids. Contains only kid-appropriate information.
KidsClick!: A search engine for children created by librarians meant guide young users to valuable and age appropriate web sites. Very kid friendly and accurate site!
Bigchalk.com: Bigchalk allows users to search by subject area and within their age group (Elementary, Middle School, High School and Beyond).
EdView: Search this database of teacher-selected, student-appropriate websites that are categorized by topic and grade level. The site also provides links associated with "this day in history," a "site of the day," and sites related to current holidays.
CyberSleuthKids: An online search engine and guide for students in grades K-12. The goal of this site is to provide a safe educational online database of links to help the student sift through the maze of information.
